The Advent Word Doesn't Stop There ~ By Rev. Tom Starnes
"See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone's work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end...
"It is I, Jesus, who sent my angel to you with this testimony for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let everyone who hears say, "Come." And let everyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift. - Revelation 22: 12-13, 16-17
The preaching I heard on the Book of Revelation, growing up, was usually an apocalyptic interpretation: Jesus is on the way so you best get yourself for the judgement of God, when the sheep and the goat will be separated.
That apocalyptic word is in these words from Revelation: "See, I am coming... Blessed are those who wash their robes so that they will have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers. . . and everyone who loves and practices falsehood" (Revelation 22: 14-15).
But the Advent word doesn't stop there. Read on in this chapter and you hit upon these words of promise: "The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come.' And Let everyone who hears say, 'Come.' And let everyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift."
The One who is coming, The Advent Christ we look for and long for, is the one who said "whosoever will come and drink from the water of Life."
