It’s almost here. This is the weekend the church is planning a volunteer service blitz. Our goal is to engage all sorts of people in giving service during the weekend with two big events. These are open events for children, youth and adults. Anyone who shows up is able to participate. As we offer our time, we are putting our faith into action.

Our meal packaging event with Rise Against Hunger will be on Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to noon in the fellowship hall. No special skills or training required, just willing spirit. Come at any time in the morning and stay as long as you wish We plan to package 10,000 nutritious meals that can put a dent in hunger! We are looking for people who can come at 10 am, 11:00 am and can work an hour or two.

CROP Walk, Sunday, October 13, 1:30 PM start
Calvary UMC is continuing the tradition of sponsoring a walk to raise funds for Church World Service (CWS). It will be held on Sunday, October 13 at 1:30 pm starting and ending at Calvary Church.  It’s a 3-mile walk that will include three rest stops for water and takes about an hour to complete. More than 600 communities around the U.S. join together each fall to hold local “CROP Walks” to bring an end hunger and poverty both locally and around the world.

In addition thank you for all the volunteers that help with The Lord’s Laundry, Sunday School, Children’s’ Church, ushering, preparing the altar, singing in the choir, preparing the coffee and tea time, driving the church bus, and all the other tasks that get done every weekend throughout the year.

Blessings,

Pastor Steve
