Would you like the chance to get to know new people at Calvary Church?

Would you enjoy the chance to share something you enjoy with others?

What’s a Life and Faith Group? It’s a small group that forms around a common topic or interest and plans to meet four times. Each group will focus on a shared interest and will be led by someone with a passion for the subject. The meetings will take place weekly or monthly depending on the group.

The following groups are now forming! Sign up during coffee hour on Sunday or here. There will also be a time to learn more in the Parish Hall on Wednesday 11/15 at 2 PM and 7:30 PM. More details on each group will follow based on  how many are interested.

Bible and a Bagel, Mondays, 7-7:30am at ZiPani Café Bistro, 177 TJ Drive

Meet for a brief, informal Bible study, conversation and a nosh. No Bible knowledge required and no one will be asked to pray aloud! Great way to start your week!

Dinner for 8, Frederick Foodie Edition

Meet for dinner at four local restaurants. Fridays or Saturdays once a month starting on December 3. The group will decide which restaurants to pick. The only requirement is that each group does not restrict itself to couples.

Dinner for 8, Home Cooked Edition

This dinner for 8 group will take turns hosting and serving food at their home.

Take a Hike

Meet for a weekend hike, once a month, rain or shine. In area parks. Suggested hikes include: Cunningham Falls State Park, Catoctin Mountain Park, the C & O Canal, and  a nearby section of the Appalachian Trail

Book Study Group

Four sessions, four books chosen by members of the group. Meet for discussion once a month with a new book each month chosen by the group, starting with  Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by J.D. Vance. A bestseller for many weeks, Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a  culture in crisis.

Writer’s Circle

Love to write? Want to learn different methods of writing for spiritual practice? We’ll meet once a month and start with a writing prompt, followed by a time for you to write freely.  Whether you just want to learn to pray with your pen or hone your writing skills for a job, join us!

Have an idea for a group not listed above? Let Rev. Steve Larsen, Rev. Shannon Sullivan, or Christy Mossburg know.
