As we celebrate Thanksgiving Day, may your hearts be filled with love and gratitude for the goodness and blessings in your life. I offer these prayers as a way to put that appreciation into words. (I am boldly borrowing and sharing these two prayers that I recently received from the Washington National Cathedral.)
I’m Feeling Thankful
Lord, thank you for the beauty of this world, the wonder of life and the mystery of love. Thank you for the blessing of family and friends, near and far. Thank you for tasks that demand my best efforts and accomplishments that satisfy me. Thank you for disappointments and failures that draw me closer to you. Above all, thank you for your Son Jesus Christ. Grant me the gift of your Spirit, that I may know Christ and make him known; and through him, at all times and in all places, may give thanks to you in all things; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
I’m Feeling Joyful
Lord, I praise you for the things that bring me joy every day: for a safe home and food on the table, the smiles of friends, times of useful work and times of rest. Keep my eyes open to your gracious hand in all things so that, rejoicing in your whole creation, I may serve you with gladness for the sake of him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
God bless,
Pastor Steve Larsen
