I want to share some news with you about some of my “extra-curricular activities.” In addition to serving as your pastor, I have taken on a new responsibility that I wanted to tell you about.
The Rev. Lucy Hogan was a guest preacher here at Calvary Church last August. She invited me to consider submitting my name for consideration as a member of the Frederick County Ethics Commission. Rev. Hogan happens to be a member of the group that nominates members to the Ethics Commission. She also happens to be a friend and a former professor of mine from my seminary days. At her suggestion, I went through an interview and the nomination process and have been approved to serve as a member of the commission for the next two years.
The commission’s role is to assure the impartiality and independent judgment of public officials and employees and work to see that the Ethics Law of the County and State are followed.
I am honored to serve on the Frederick County Ethics Commission. I hope to serve the citizens of this county and work to build integrity and public trust in elected and appointed leaders and employees. I feel I have a responsibility to give something back to this place that I have enjoyed as home.
In addition to serving on the commission, I continue to serve as a member of the Board for the local chapter of the American Red Cross and I am active in the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek. I enjoy getting to work with others in the community and region that are doing great things.
Do well, be safe, live and full and joyful life.
