Welcome Rev. Wilson!
This Sunday we welcome Rev. Julie Wilson with us at Calvary UMC as guest and preacher for the day. She worked on staff here from 2014-2020 offering leadership in outreach and mission projects. Julie is currently a missionary with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries as a Church and Community Worker. Julie serves as the program coordinator for the Open Arms Community Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Calvary UMC is a Covenant Mission Partner with Julie, providing prayer and financial support.
Invitation to Conversation
Several questions have been raised following recent decisions made by the United Methodist Church General Conference meeting that concluded earlier this month. People both inside and outside the church have asked:
- What was decided?
- What will be the impact on Calvary UMC?
- Are we still United Methodists?
- What does this church have to say about same sex marriages and how open and affirming we are as a congregation to LGBT persons?
Members and friends are invited stick around a bit in the sanctuary after the worship service today for a brief presentation and questions/answers led by Pastor Steve Larsen.
