“Between Sundays” – A pondering from Rev. Hutton

As I begin this new chapter with you at Calvary Frederick, I am filled with deep gratitude, holy anticipation, and a touch of holy chaos. New beginnings are sacred spaces, threshold moments where we’re invited to trust in what we cannot yet fully see. And while transitions can be both exciting and overwhelming, I believe God meets us most powerfully in these in-between spaces.

Right now, I’m in the thick of transition, unpacking an office and a home, and preparing to send two of my three kids off to college. It’s a season of cardboard boxes, Home Depot runs, and to do lists, but also a season of grace, growth, and great hope. So, if you see me looking a bit tired or holding a coffee like it’s a lifeline, know I’m joyfully adjusting and grateful to be here.

As I learn names and begin to get to know your stories, I ask for your patience and your grace. I look forward to the conversations, the shared prayers, and the laughter that will come as we grow in community together. I trust that God has brought us together for a reason, and that the Spirit is already preparing the way for all that lies ahead.

The Apostle Paul reminds us, “The one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion” (Philippians 1:6). I believe God is already at work here in powerful and beautiful ways. I’m honored to walk this journey with you.

Until Sunday, and all the days between,

Rev. Dr. Hutton
