A pondering from Dr. Hutton
What a gift it was to welcome the Go Team Therapy Dogs into worship this past Sunday! Their presence brought joy, comfort, and a unique expression of grace that reminded us of the many ways love shows up in the world. Thank you to all who helped make the visit possible, and to everyone who shared in the warmth of that experience.
As we continue our series on sowing and spiritual growth, I invite you to reflect back on the questions we explored together this past Sunday:
What seeds are you holding?
What gifts has God placed in your hands to sow?
Where is God calling you to scatter hope?
These are not just questions for one Sunday, they are invitations to live intentionally and faithfully each day.
This week, we turn to the practice of nurturing what has been planted. In Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, we are reminded that “God supplies the seed and makes it grow”—but we are also called to care for the soil of our hearts, to tend to our spirits, and to participate in God’s ongoing work.
James 3 challenges us to pay close attention to how we nurture: “With the tongue we bless the Lord and with it we curse those made in God’s likeness… this ought not to be so.” The words we speak, the way we show up, and the discipline we practice, these are the waters that feed or dry out what has been sown.
So I we will ponder this week,
What disciplines are nurturing your spirit right now?
Are your words watering seeds of faith, or scattering doubt?
Where do you see growth already beginning, and where is God calling you to tend more carefully?
Join us this Sunday as we continue to cultivate a life of faithful presence, rooted in grace and growing toward hope.
Until Sunday, and all the days between,
Dr. Hutton
