Between Sundays: A Weekend of Ministry and Mission

What a wonderful weekend it has been here at Calvary! Our building and hearts were full with life, laughter, music, and mission.

On Friday evening, Ms. Amy and her amazing team hosted a joyful Parent’s Night Out, welcoming a crowd of excited children for games, crafts, and fun while giving parents a well-earned evening to themselves. The energy and care that went into the night reflected the very best of our ministry with families, thank you to every volunteer who helped make it happen!

On Sunday morning, we celebrated a truly successful Mission Sunday, learning more about the importance of clean water through the WASH program, and joining together for our Rise Against Hunger Meal-Packing Event. In just a few short hours, we packed thousands of meals to help feed families around the world, a tangible expression of God’s love in action.

That same afternoon, the sanctuary came alive as we kicked off our 2025-2026 Concert Series with a beautiful performance by vocal group Ars Gratia Populi. Music filled the air and it was a joy to see this beloved Calvary tradition continue to bless our community.

This week, we return to our regular worship schedule as we continue our sermon series, turning our attention to “Jesus’ Final Words.” We will share in Holy Communion as we reflect on the grace and power of Christ’s final teachings to His disciples.

Please keep our Mission Team in your prayers as they travel this weekend to Ashe County, North Carolina, to serve families in need through home-repair and rebuilding projects. And if you’re in Frederick on Sunday afternoon, we invite you to come out and cheer on (or walk with!) our Youth in their Walk for WASH, our October Love Offering focus. Every step taken and every dollar given helps bring safe water, sanitation, and hygiene to communities around the world.

It is such a gift to be part of a church that worships, serves, gives, and celebrates together. God is at work through you, Calvary, and there’s much more to come!

Until Sunday, and all the days between,

Dr. Hutton
