Dear members and friends of Calvary Church,
Each November we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. In the midst of food and football, family and the fall colors, we stop to give thanks for the blessings we have received. We can give thanks for the many ways that God has been with us and showered us with grace.
God has great plans for our church and all who are connected to it. Each of us has a part to play. Our financial gifts to God through the Calvary Church help lift up Jesus Christ in this community and the larger world. There is much we can be thankful for. There is also more than we can do.
Over the next few weeks, we will be reflecting on Paul’s words to Timothy to be rich in good deeds, generous and ready to share. This is the way to store up a treasure that will last long into the future (1 Timothy 6: 18). I invite you to begin praying about what you will plan to give to God through the church in the coming year. We will be celebrating Commitment Sunday on November 19. That morning we place our completed giving cards on the altar as part of our worship.
Giving packets will be available at the church this Sunday, November 12. You can also complete a card online at the church website www.Calvaryumc.org.
I encourage you to prayerfully consider what financial gifts you wish to offer to God and this church in the coming year. Let this be a time in which God leads you into greater faithfulness and trust. Then we can lay up treasures for ourselves in the future that God holds.
