A group of 18 persons from Calvary Church is headed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this week as a youth mission service project. I will be leading the group as we travel together and meet up with other church youth groups to spend a week serving vulnerable homeowners and learning about Christian service with an organization called The Pittsburgh Project, a Christian nonprofit community organization with a thirty-four-year history of service to the Pittsburgh area. Located on Pittsburgh’s Northside neighborhood, the organization runs several after-school programsrecreation spaces, and welcomes partners year-round to serve community homeowners. They run service camps for youth groups from around the country each summer. The service camp provides home repairs to vulnerable homeowners while also provide youth with an opportunity to build relationships and understanding with people living in the inner city. In the evenings, there are times for games, worship and small group discussion to build leadership skills among the campers.

I have gone six times to work with this particular organization. It’s a great organization that provides an experience for youth to get outside of what they typically see and know. It is well staffed with college students that provide lots of fun and thoughtful discussion throughout the week. Please prayer for our team which includes Jenn, Owen and Sylvie Duthoy, Jack Willard, Addy Benton, Elizabeth Anderson, Molly Anderson, Isabella Anderson, Xavier Gaeta, Riley MacDonald, Greg Gray, Shae Rust, Ed Kinsey as well as three others that will be joining us (Sean Niner, Lori Leber, Chase Leber and Mason Leber). We will be away from Monday through Friday.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Steve
