There is a lot of news and worry swirling around these days about the coronavirus/covid-19. We are all concerned and want to be vigilant and responsible about this public health threat.
For now, there is no reason or public help guidance for us not to gather as a congregation and as small groups. CUMC is developing a plan that will be ready, as needed, to respond appropriately should conditions change.

Things We Can Do to Prevent the Spread of Infection

  • Stay home when you are sick. Stay home for at least 24 hours after you no longer have a fever or signs of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medicines.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • We will offer individual cups for communion services and the servers will use hand sanitizer before distributing communion elements.
  • It’s okay to refrain from shaking hands on Sunday morning.  A smile and a friendly word to others during the passing of the peace can mean as much (or more) than a handshake.  If you prefer not the shake hands, you can always keep your hands in your pocket or behind your back.  It’s also perfectly okay to avoid coming in close contact with others to be on the safe side.

If you chose to stay at home on a Sunday morning, our Sunday worship service can be viewed live on Facebook and is posted to the Church website on the following Monday. If you are accustomed to putting your offering in the offering plate, you can send your check to the church office instead or give electronically through the church website.

Let us be mindful of and praying for those across the world who are ill with COVID-19.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Steve Larsen
