Dear Calvary members and friends,
I am pleased to announce that Calvary United Methodist Church will begin to offer in-person worship each Sunday morning inside the church sanctuary starting on Sunday, September 6. The worship services will be held at 9 AM.
We all enjoy seeing one another and gathering for worship. While many have made use of YouTube and Facebook and other media to stay connected during the coronavirus pandemic, the church building has remained closed for worship and other gatherings. Since March, we have missed the opportunity to be in the space that has so much beauty and significance for us. During the latter part of the summer, we held worship services in the parking area with about a dozen persons in attendance each week. This helped us gage the interest of in-person worship among the church members and learn how we can offer services following CDC and Maryland Health Department requirements.
Although not everyone will feel ready to return to in-person worship in the sanctuary at this time, we will offer this as an option in addition to the virtual worship services provided online.
Every reasonable effort is being made to assure that we can provide these worship services as safely as possible. Please read through the guidelines that have been created. Those who agree to the guidelines are welcome to participate in the in-person worship services. The Task Force on Re-Entering the Building will continue to monitor directives from public health officials and local and state government. We will also be following what other houses of worship in Frederick are doing and guidance from the Baltimore Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church. The Task Force will provide further recommendations as we go forward through the fall.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Dr. Steve Larsen, Senior Pastor
