Between Sundays

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” — Psalm 136:1

What a week it has been around here.

This week our halls filled up with rainforest sounds, splashing waterfalls, towering trees, and a whole lot of happy noise as our kids dove into Vacation Bible School. The theme was Rainforest Falls, and all week long the children explored the nature of God. Who God is, not just what God does. They learned that God is our creator, that God knows every single thing about them, that God is a safe place when life feels stormy, and that God is forever. Watching them take hold of those truths, with motions and music and a lot of laughter, was pure joy.

And here is the good news. We aren’t done yet.

This Sunday we are bringing a little of the rainforest into worship, and I do mean a little. Don’t be surprised if the sanctuary looks different than you remember it. Over our four days together, the kids met some wonderful Bible buddies along the way, but there is one we saved for Sunday. Meet Tia the Anteater, who comes with maybe the most important truth of all. God is love. We will explore that together, and our children will lead us in some of the songs they loved best from the week. Fair warning, you may not be able to keep your feet still.

This is also your chance to see for yourselves all the special moments of this week’s journey, the faces, the wonder, the “Wow, God” moments that filled our building.

So come as you are. And if you want to add to the color of our rainforest, wear your brightest tropical shirt and join the fun. Come ready to sing, come ready to celebrate these kids, and come ready to be reminded of the simplest and deepest truth our children learned all week.

God is love. It really is that good.

Until Sunday, and all the days between,
Dr. Hutton
