The Community Concert Series is presented by the Music and Arts Ministry of Calvary United Methodist Church. Support is provided through grants from The Frederick Arts Council, The Delaplaine Foundation, and The William Cross Foundation.
Most concerts are free and open to the public.
Concerts begin at 3:00 p.m. Doors open at 2:30

October 18, 2026—Sean Brennan, classical guitar and Natanya Sheva Washer, vocalist
Experience an afternoon of rich and varied repertoire with soprano Natanya Sheva Washer and guitarist Sean Brennan. This program brings together music that reflects a wide range of cultural voices and traditions with some nostalgic classics. The duo specializes in creating new arrangements of music that aren’t typically performed on guitar, with a special focus on works by women and composers of color.

Sibling duo Anita and Julian Graef will present an engaging and varied program of works for both violin & cello as well as viola & cello, spanning everything from Baroque to modern day.

March 14, 2027 – Brian Ganz, pianist
After successfully concluding his 15-year project to perform all of Chopin’s works (April 2026), Mr. Ganz now begins a new musical journey: Ludwig van Beethoven’s complete piano sonatas. The program will feature Piano Sonata No. 1 in F minor, Op. 2, and Sonata No. 3, Op. 2 in C major, as well as music by Spanish composer Enrique Granados. Will the program include a Chopin reprise? You will have to attend and find out!
April 11, 2027 – Daniel Aune, organist
Don’t miss another glorious concert featuring Calvary UMC’s Cornel Zimmer 46-rank, 4-manual pipe organ. Mr. Aune, who holds a doctorate of musical arts from Eastman School of Music, teaches at Peabody Institute and is the director of music and organist at Christ Lutheran Church in Baltimore. His program will include organ works by well-known composers, highlighting the many colors and sounds of Calvary UMC’s organ.

May 2, 2027 – Duo Fuerza, four-hand piano with James D’Leon and Alwen Yeung
Duo Fuerza—International Steinway Artist James D’León and acclaimed pianist Alwen Yeung—ignite the stage with electrifying four-hand piano performances that blend virtuosity, precision, and visual artistry. Like two dancers at a single keyboard, their seamless coordination brings dynamic energy to a diverse program spanning the refined elegance of Johann Sebastian Bach, the lyricism of Franz Schubert, the rhythmic fire of Astor Piazzolla, the jazz brilliance of George Gershwin, and the dazzling virtuosity of Nikolai Kapustin.
Their signature “Conversations from the Piano” format offers engaging insights that deepen the listening experience, making each performance both accessible and memorable. Passionate, expressive, and visually compelling, Duo Fuerza delivers a concert experience that captivates audiences of all backgrounds.
